T400 Controller Facilities Manual
667/EB/20200/000 Page 9-24 Issue 9
A compensation period will only be introduced on a particular running phase if there is
an outstanding vehicle extension present at the expiry of the normal maximum period
for that phase.
When a priority change results in a VA extension being curtailed, then:
For high speed roads, an extended intergreen period will be introduced if specified for
that stage change.
A revertive demand will be entered for the phase being left.
In the event of a bus detector:
(a) having a fault indication occasioned by disconnection of the loop
(b) giving a permanent output for 5 minutes
then the output of that detector will, until manually reset, have no further effect on the
operation of the controller, and the external DFM lamp will be illuminated.
Should the emergency vehicle detector give an output, with no interruption exceeding
either 4 or 8 seconds as selected, for a period in the range 30 to 240 seconds in steps
of 30 seconds or less (selected by switch(es) or other approved means) then the effect
of that detector output, and of any other emergency vehicle detector operating on the
same phase, will be inhibited until there has been a break in the output for the 4 or 8
second period above, at which time the detector outputs will be re-enabled.
9.4.2(d) Changes from A Lower to a Higher Priority Level
Changes from a lower priority level to a higher priority level (i.e. normal to bus or bus
to emergency vehicle) can only occur on receipt of a priority demand for a higher
priority level than that which is running, or a priority extension of a higher priority
level occurs on a phase which is in progress.
Emergency vehicle priority demands and/or extensions which are received whilst an
inhibit period on the bus priority level is running, will be serviced immediately, subject
to normal safety periods.
On a change from the bus priority level to the emergency vehicle priority level, all
stored priority demands for phases, inhibit and compensation periods, at the bus
priority level may be cancelled. Normal VA demands will be stored as usual.
Should an emergency vehicle priority extension request be received for the running
phase whilst a bus priority extension period is running, and before the expiry of the
normal maximum running period, then the priority maximum period for the emergency
vehicle priority level will commence from the expiry of the normal maximum running
period. However, should the emergency vehicle priority extension request be received
after the commencement of the bus priority maximum period, then the emergency
vehicle priority maximum running period will commence from the receipt of the
emergency vehicle level priority extension.
