19.2 RED LAMP MONITORING
This facility monitors the state of lamps at an intersection as in standard lamp
monitoring. There are 3 outputs from RLMU that affect the controller operation with
another 2 outputs which can be connected directly to the OTU.

Reference
0 Activated if a red lamp fails on any 3 aspect
vehicle phase
LMU1 Indication 1
1 Activated if a second red lamp fails on any 3
aspect vehicle phase where a red lamp has
previously failed
LMU2 Indication 2
2 Activated if a second red lamp failure is
pending on any 3 aspect vehicle phase
where a red lamp has already failed
LMU3 Indication 3
3 Active if any one lamp (red, amber, green,
reg. sign, or wait indicator) on an input
being monitored fails
- Connect directly to
OTU if required
4 Active if any green lamp on any 3 aspect
vehicle phase has failed
- Connect directly to
OTU if required
(Fault Outputs Set During Lamps Off - Fault Outputs 3 and 4)
Red Lamp Monitoring is used on part-time signals or intersections with pedestrian
phases with audible or tactile indicators and pedestrian only stage.
The Red Lamp Monitor outputs 0, 1 and 2 are connected into the T400 controller with
outputs 3 and 4 connected directly into the OTU.
Each of the outputs from the LMU can only be connected to one input on the
controller so if a UTC reply bit is required when either fault output 0, 1 or 2 goes
active, it must be achieved via conditioning.
The 3 controller inputs (LMU1, LMU2 and LMU3) have relay contacts open when
active. In the event of LMU fail or incorrect connections the controllers sees all 3
inputs as being active. This causes controller to respond accordingly.
