The group timers in each linking unit are fully synchronous and, provided the total
cycle time at each intersection is the same, the offset between controllers at the start of
a particular plan is maintained until the next plan is selected.
The controller follows plans within the limits of minimum greens and intergreens by the
respective time switches, whose settings incorporate the required offsets.
9.9.3 Different Plans And Offsets
Figure 9.6(a) illustrates the offsets and settings for the introduction of Plan 0 (morning
peak) which is introduced at C at 08.30 and zero seconds, at B at 08.30 and 20
seconds, and at A at 08.30 and 35 seconds.
Similarly, during the evening peak - Figure 9.6(b) - the green wave of light is required
for traffic moving out from the city centre (A-B-C). The evening plan, designated Plan
1, is introduced at A at 16.15 with B offset 19 seconds from A, and C 27 seconds from
B.
9.9.4 Plan And Group Organisation
Operations in CLF mode are performed under control of up to 8 fixed time plans (0 to
7). Each plan consists of up to 16 consecutive groups (0 to 15), each group time being
individually programmed for each plan with unused groups set to zero. If all group
times within a plan are set to zero then the plan will not run.
The timing range of the group times is 0 to 255 seconds in 1 second steps.
The programmed values may be changed via the handset using the PLT command.
The influences exerted during the groups of a plan are programmed as an influence set.
Usually the same influence set is used for each plan, but up to 8 different sets (0 to 7)
can be programmed if required. Each influence set consists of 4 influences for each of
the 16 groups (combination A, B, C, D).
The programmed influences may be changed via the handset using the commands; IFA,
IFB, IFC, IFD and PLI.
A CLF plan is introduced by a timetable setting with a function number of ‘1’. The
setting consists of the day type, hour, minute and second at which the change is to the
effected and the plan number to be brought into operation. Figure 21.10 shows an
example of timetable settings for plan changes.
The timetable settings that are programmed may be changed via the handset using the
TSW command. If the timetable settings are not known at the time they may be added
at a later date via the handset.
