T400 Controller Facilities Manual
667/EB/20200/000 Page 25-2 Issue 9
On detection of first red lamp failure the RLM response is :-
The T400 system LED is illuminated.
DFM lamp flashes.
The appropriate phases are delayed by a preset amount (specified in the T400’s
configuration) to allow extra time for drivers to realise that a red is present on
this approach.
Internal fault log is set.
If the controller is configured to output ‘any fail’ and ‘any red’ signals then
these are activated on the configured output bits.
If configured, the Red Lamp Fail 1 bit is set
On detection of second red lamp failure on same approach, the controller response is :-
The DFM Lamp remains flashing and the T400 system LED remains
illuminated.
Fault logs are set to indicate a second red lamp failure.
If the controller is configured to output ‘any fail’ and ‘any red’ signals then
these remain activated on the configured output bits.
If configured, the Red Lamp Fail 2 bit is set
For pedestrian RLM :-
The appropriate pedestrian phases are inhibited, as configured for that
RLM group. Note if the pedestrian phase is already active or is within
500ms of going active, then the pedestrian phase will be run for its
minimum period and on subsequent cycles be inhibited.
The wait indicators are illuminated for all inhibited pedestrians.
For part time junction RLM :-
The phases on the stream or streams are switched off. This is to ensure
the approaching driver doesn’t think the signals are off and drives
through a failed red, resulting in an accident.
