9.9.8 Alternative CLF System

There is an alternative CLF system to the one previously described. This system

operates such that at the time of a plan change requested by the master clock or the

handset, the controller will calculate the group and group timer as if the group timer

had been running since the base time (usually 2.00 a.m.) plus the required offset. This

calculation on the plan change uses the values currently held for the plan and the time

in the master time clock.

The base time is configurable as are the group times. Each plan has its own group

offset time. The base time plus group offset is called the RESYNC TIME for that plan.

This alternative CLF system is a configurable option.

9.9.8(a)

In the Alternative CLF system each controller can have a group offset associated with

each plan. This group offset is a configurable item and can be expressed in seconds

only or in minutes and seconds. It can be changed via the handset, by using the “OFF”

handset command.

9.9.8(b)

At 2.00 a.m. every morning, the controller will wait until the group offset time has

expired, which may be 0 seconds, and then activate group 0 in the current plan. It will

involve re-introducing the current plan. Group 0 will last for the length of time

specified against group 0 for that plan. The group outputs will continue timing off and

cycling onto the next group output within the plan.

9.9.8(c)

The time of day in conjunction with the time switch settings determines which plan is

controlling the intersection under CLF mode. In the normal CLF system when the

controller changes plan it starts the new plan at group 0, but in the Alternative CLF

system when the controller changes plan it does a calculation to work out which group
