The example shown in Figure 9.7(a) would be for a two stream

controller where Stream 0 contains Stage 1 and 2, and Stream 1

contains Stages 3, 4, 5. Influence Set Combination ‘A’ has been used

for Stream 0 and Influence Set Combination ‘B’ for Stream 1. Stream 0

would move on groups 0 and 2; Stream 1 would move on groups 0, 1 if

stage 4 is demanded, and group 2. It will be noted that Stream 0 will

ignore group 1 and will continue to operate on influences set in group 0

(see section 2.6.4 on CLF).

2) On a single stream to give a choice of more than one demand dependant

move simultaneously. For the example shown in Figure 9.7(b), at group

output no. 3, either Stage 2 would be selected if a demand for Stage 2

was present or Stage 3 if a demand for Stage 3 was present with no

demand for Stage 2.

3) On a single stream to give a choice of a demand dependant move or an

immediate move simultaneously. For the example shown in Figure

9.7(c), at group output no. 2 either Stage 3 would be selected if a

demand for Stage 3 was present or Stage 4 if a demand for Stage 3 was

not present.

In this example the group timer for group no. 2 would normally be set

to a short window time, e.g. 1 sec.

However, if the timer was set to a time greater than the intergreens to

the demand dependant stage plus the minimum green of any phase

running in that stage, then if a demand dependant move was made to

stage 3 then it would be followed by the immediate move to stage 4.

In this way it is possible to build up complex stage change decisions

within the CLF with a minimum of lost cycle time.
