NOTES
(1) CLF Mode - When calculating the minimum cycle time of a CLF plan the Red
extensions due to Red Lamp Monitoring should be included with the Intergreen
and Minimum running times. CLF plans must have a cycle time greater than the
calculated minimum otherwise synchronism may be lost.
(2) UTC Mode - RF1 and RF2 UTC reply bits should be configured from LMU1
and LMU2 signals respectively to allow the Instation to recognise that a
compliance error could be due to a Red Lamp Monitor extension.
(3) Fixed Time Mode - The cycle time may be increased during Red Lamp Monitor
extensions.
(4) A single red lamp monitor unit is usually used for single or parallel stage stream
controllers.
On parallel stage streaming controllers a single red lamp failure will introduce
the appropriate intergreen extensions on all streams. If two red lamp failures
are detected on a particular vehicle phase all pedestrian phases on all streams
will be inhibited.
Multiple LMUs may be used to monitor each stream separately, this will
introduce appropriate intergreen extensions and inhibit phases on that particular
stream only. As this requires significant additional hardware (LMU, Mounting
kits etc.) and the red lamp monitoring facility to be implemented in special
conditioning, THE USE OF MULTIPLE LMUs IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
