may be stage change conditions present for Stage 2 and ROW will go there before
Stage 3.
In the example in Figure 21.6(a), the move 2-1 is not allowed, but an alternative move
into stage 0 is required in VA, UTC and CLF modes.
In these modes, Stage 0 is only used for this alternative move and so all moves out of
it, apart from Stage 1, are prohibited with an alternative move to Stage 1. During
Manual mode the move 0-1 is allowed.
10.3 IGNORE MOVES
When a move is restricted and a nominated alternative stage is too restrictive, it is
possible to programme the controller to ignore the restricted move and to look for
another satisfactory stage to change to. The stage change conditions for the original
restricted move will still be present and after another stage change has occurred they
will be considered for any further stage changes.
The ignore move facility is normally only required during modes where it is possible to
have stage change conditions present for more than one stage, i.e. VA, Priority,
Emergency Vehicle and UTC mode.
In the example in Figure 21.6(a) the move 4-5 is an ignore move during VA, UTC and
CLF mode. Stage 5 is a hurry call stage and is only used during that mode. In UTC
mode there is no force condition for Stage 5 so it will never appear but during VA and
CLF modes, a demand for Phase E during Stage 4 will try and initiate a change to
Stage 5. If the move was just prohibited, no further stage changes would take place
and so the move is programmed to be ignored.
10.4 PERMITTED MOVES
Permitted moves are not programmed they are achieved by the lack of any stage
movement restrictions.
Although a stage may only appear in one mode, there will be occasions when the stage
is active and the mode changes. Moves are therefore permitted out of it during the
other modes to allow for the stage change conditions of the new mode.
In the example in Figure 21.6(a) Stage 5 is used only during Hurry Call mode, but
once the hurry call has been serviced, Stage 5 will be active in whichever mode takes
over. Moves to Stage 5 are restricted (Ignored) in all other modes but moves out of it
are permitted.
