6.8 OTHER LOOP SPACINGS

The SDE/SA facility can be configured to operate with 10 ft. loop spacing. Note that

all SDE/SA loops on the site must be 10ft. loop spacing. However, it is recommended

that all the loops are re-cut for 12ft loop spacing and the Controller configured for

12ft. operation.

6.9 EQUIPMENT

The SDE/SA facility is provided on a separate PCB which fits into the PCB Module

beside the Main Processor Board. It contains enough inputs for up to 16 assessors (i.e.

32 inputs). Any inputs not required may be used for other input facilities, i.e. detectors

or push-button.

A jack socket is provided for interface to a Soundmark or equivalent test set.

An additional detector power supply may be required. See the Detector Power Supply

Section for the supply requirements of externally mounted vehicle detection

equipment.

6.10 EXAMPLE

Figure 21.18 shows an example of requirement of Double SDE on Phases A, B and C

tying in with the intersection in section 21. Phase A is one approach and Phase B and

C are another approach with Phase C being a right turn indicative green arrow. Phases

A and B have been requested not to have extra clearance if a non high speed extension

is active at phase termination.

6.11 HIGH SPEED DETECTORS WITH CALL CANCEL

In the diagram in section 5, the AHS and BHS were high-speed detectors:-

Detector AHS - Extends phase A and extend the intergreen following phase A if

any high speed vehicle is detected.

Detector BHS - 1) In case 1 above extends stage 1 only

2) In case 2 above extends stage 1 until a call for stage 2 and

then will extend stage 2

3) In case 3 above extends stage 1 and 2.

AHS must extend the I/G green following termination of phase A if a high speed

vehicle is detected. In all 3 cases detector BHS should extend the intergreen following

termination of phase B if a high speed vehicle is detected, i.e. leaving stage 1 or 2.
