18. EQUIPMENT
18.1 PHASE FACILITIES
The Intersection Controller can drive up to 16 real phases. The Pelican can drive a
traffic and a pedestrian phase. The signals are driven by 4-Phase Driver Boards on the
Intersection Controller and 2-Phase Driver Boards on the Pelican. A 4-Phase Driver
Board drives four 3-aspect phases and a 2-Phase Driver Board drives two 3-aspect
phases with a MCE 0125/MCE 0145 Red Lamp Monitor circuit.
A real phase can control one of the following:
(i) vehicle movements via a 3-aspect signal
(ii) pedestrian movements via a 2-aspect signal and a WAIT indicator
(iii) vehicle movements via a green arrow signal.
(iv) a switched sign.
