9.4.2(b) Precedence Levels

priority (in descending order) shall be:
Emergency Vehicle
Hurry Call
UTC

Manually Selected other modes
CLF
Buses

9.4.2(c) Servicing of Priority Facilities at a Common Priority Level
The presence of an output from a priority vehicle detector will, while the priority phase
is running, hold the green signal. The cessation of the output will initiate a priority
extension period. A priority demand, for a phase other than that which is running,
which is received whilst a priority extension and/or priority maximum period is running
at the same priority level, will be stored and serviced when the proper extension or
priority maximum period expires, when no inhibit period is specified.
The priority extension period, for buses or for emergency vehicles will be adjustable by
means of switch(es) or other approved means over the range 0 to 15 seconds, in one
second steps.
The priority maximum running period for buses will be adjustable by means of
switch(es) or other approved means over the range 0 to 36 seconds, preferably in 1
second steps, otherwise in not more than 4 second steps.
Should two or more priority demands be stored at the termination of a minimum
running period, then the priority demands will be serviced in the normal cyclic order
and not necessarily in order of receipt. An exception may be made for LRVs (see
section 9.4.6(a)).
When a priority extension runs a phase beyond its normal maximum running period,
then a normal demand will be entered upon leaving the phase during, or at the end of,
the priority maximum running period. An extended intergreen will also be introduced
in this case if specified for the intergreen period following the state (for high speed
roads) or the maximum value of a variable intergreen will be introduced. This demand
and extended intergreen may be omitted only if, by monitoring of normal detectors, it
is established that no vehicles or vehicle extensions are present at the end of the phase.
If a phase terminates with a Priority Extension asserted, then a revertive priority
demand will be automatically entered, if the priority demand facility is specified.
Optionally, a switch may be specified to enable this reversion to be included or
excluded. This reversion shall not be included for the emergency vehicle priority level.
