18.12 POWERING EXTERNALLY SITUATED D-DETECTORS WITH PSU TYPE

This is an unregulated nominal 45 volt PSU option which may be retrofitted to a

Siemens T400L or T400S Traffic Controller to provide a DC supply for the old Type

D inductive loop detectors fitted in external housings (“beehives”).

This unit is a simple transformer isolated, capacitor-smoothed supply designed to fit

into a Type 400 controller. It consists of a single metal plate to which the electronic

items are fitted and interconnected by hand wiring.

Each beehive is equipped with a Regulator in addition to a number of detector cards.

Load Calculation

Maximum O/P current = 500 milliamps

Current per Regulator board = 16 milliamps (1 regulator per beehive)

Current per detector board = 48 milliamps
