25.2 ANCILLARY PROCESSOR CARD INSTALLATION
25.2.1 General
Installation and commissioning of the ancillary processor is carried out in the following
order:
Configure the ancillary processor PCB via PCB switches
Install PCB in Controller and Connect the cabling
Configure and commission the ancillary processor using the Handset terminal
The parameters that need configuring include:-
(1) Output power level
(2) Receive Threshold
(3) 2 or 4 wire line connection
(4) Ohm or High Impedance line termination
(5) Baud Rate/Mode
(6) Outstation Address
(7) Number of Outstations on the line
(8) Number of control bytes for all Outstations on the line
(9) Number of reply bytes for all Outstations on the line
(10) Reply Bit Function
(11) Lithium Battery isolation switch
(12) LMU Information (see the LMU section)
(13) Fault Flag and Data Displays
(1),(2),(3),(4) and (11) above are configured using switches on the PCB, as described
below. All others are configured using the handset terminal.
(1)-(10) only apply to the ancillary processor if it is be used as a TC12 UTC Outstation
Transmission Unit (OTU). If the ancillary processor is not being used as an OTU,
parameters (1)-(10) can be ignored.
25.2.2 Configuring the Ancillary Processor PCB
Figure 25.1 shows a diagram of the Ancillary Processor PCB layout. The position of
the switches, connectors, and status LED’s are shown.
Ensure that the correct variant of the PCB has been supplied against the Works
Specification, if this is available.
25.2.3 Safety Warning
The Ancillary Processor PCB contains a lithium battery. Care must be taken with the
use and disposal of this battery. The handling precautions in code of practice CP526
must be followed.
