Launching an OSM Service Connection
NOTE: There are conditional requirements for using T0682 H02 ADL (and later), depending on
how the Service Connection is being accessed:
• Because it uses Java 7, Windows Server 2003 Hotfixes are required in order to use OSM
T0682 H02 ADL (and later) on Windows Server 2003. Those Hotfixes are available on
NonStop System Console Installer DVD, Update 22 (and later). For information on installing
those Windows Server 2003 Hotfixes, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
• When using Internet Explorer 9.0 or 10.0 (supported in compatibility mode only) from a PC
other than a NonStop system console, you may need to add the IP address or DNS name of
NonStop system to the Trusted Sites of Internet Explorer, as described in the OSM Configuration
Guide.
1. To initiate an OSM Service Connection session, either:
• Open a new Internet Explorer browser window (but not from within a current browser
window). In the Internet Explorer Address box, enter a system URL:
http://system_IP_address:9990
(example: http://155.155.155.155:9990)
http://system_host_name:9990
(example: http://himaxb.cac.cpqcorp.net:9990)
• If OSM Console Tools is installed on your PC and you have an existing OSM system list
or have saved your own OSM bookmarks previously (as described in Using OSM
Bookmarks)
a. From the Start menu, select:
Start > Programs > HP OSM > OSM Service Connection
b. In the left column of the home page, select a bookmark for the system you want to
access.
2. If not already installed, OSM T0682 H02 ADL (and later) will prompt you to install Java 7
when you try to establish a service connection. Download it according to the instructions, then
close the current browser, open a new one, and repeat Step 1.
3. With T0682 H02 ADL and later, a Security Warning is displayed, showing a Publisher name
of “Hewlett-Packard” and a Location, which should be the domain name or IP address of the
NonStop system. Click the check box next to “I accept the risk and want to run this application,”
then click Run.
4. If OSM detects that Java Next Generation Plug-in is disabled, it will direct you to instructions
for Enabling Java Next Generation Plug-in to Avoid OSM Memory Errors.
5. Upon satisfying the Java Runtime Environment requirements, a Log On dialog box prompts
you for a valid username and password.
