You can define up to three tiers by providing the IPv4 addresses for Key Managers that are all
members of the same Key Manager Cluster. At least two Key Managers should be specified in
Tier 1. You are not required to enter Key Managers in Tier 2 or 3; however, you cannot skip over
a tier. In order to enter Key Managers in Tier 3, you must also enter at least one in Tier 2. There
is no maximum limit to the number of Key Managers defined in a tier. Do not list a Key Manager
more than once in the tier configuration.
Examples:
One usage scenario or “best practice” example is to use Tier 1 for local Key Managers, Tier
2 for remote Key Managers, and Tier 3 for the Key Managers at a disaster recovery site.
The example pictured below shows a recommended configuration of at least two Key Managers
in each tier. If you have just four Key Managers in the cluster, placing two local Key Managers
in Tier 1 and two remote Key Managers in Tier 2 would be recommended.
When you have finished defining the tier configuration, proceed to enter the NonStop Setup User
Credentials and TCP/IP Stack.
Entering Credentials and TCP/IP Stack
After you have defined the Key Manager tiers, you must provide a valid user name and password
for the NonStop Setup User (NSSuser) Credentials and specify the NonStop TCP/IP stack in the
middle panel of the Encryption Key Manager Cluster Configuration Information dialog box (pictured
below). The user name and password must be configured beforehand, by an administrator in the
Key Manager interface. A valid NonStop Setup User will have permission to create the user name
and password for each CLIM client on the Key Manager. The NonStop TCP/IP stack is the stack
that the guided procedure will use to communicate with the Key Managers.
Once the credentials and TCP/IP stack have been entered, the Check Connectivity of Key Managers
button becomes active. You must click that button to proceed; the Continue button remains inactive
until the status for all Key Manager connectivity is obtained and reported.
