The XTerm program is a terminal emulator for the X Window System and

allows multiple windows to be opened for execution of commands and

programs. Compare XTerminal(below).

The hardware unit that opens a session with a host. The host can be an

OSx station, or any other type of node that is connected to the ethernet

network. Compare Xterm, which is a window that can be opened on OSx

stations and on X terminals.

An industry-standard windowing system that operates under the

UNIX/Linux operating system.
