functionalitywithorwithoutaheadset.
GPRSisapacketbasedGSM-technology,wherebycustomersareonlychargedforthecommunicationresourcesthey
use.AmajorgoalofGPRSistoprovidefastandefficientend-to-endpacketmodeaccesstoInternetnetworkservices.
GPRSmakesitpossibleandcost-effectivetoremainconstantlyconnected,aswellastosendandreceivedataatmuch
higherspeedsthancurrentmobilephones.
Theoretical maximum speeds of up to 171.2 kilobits per second (kbps) are achievable with GPRS, using all eight
timeslotsatthesametime.Thisisaboutthreetimesasfastasthedatatransmissionspeedspossibleovertoday'sfixed
telecommunicationsnetworksandtentimesasfastascurrentCircuitSwitchedDataservicesonGSMnetworks.
Byallowing informationto betransmitted morequickly,immediatelyandefficientlyacrossthemobilenetwork, GPRS
maywellbearelativelylesscostlymobiledataservicecomparedtoSMSandCircuitSwitchedData.
WiththeGPRSClass8/B,thedevicecanhandleupto4timeslotsdownstreamandoneupstream.A,BorCstandsfor
thecapabilityofhavingvoicecallssimultaneouslytodatacalls.ThePocketLOOXhasclassB,meaningyoucannot
makevoicecallsatthesametimeasdatacalls,butitwillalertyouduringthedatacallthatyouhaveanincomingvoice
call.“A”meansvoiceanddatacanbemixedandCmeansnotevenanalertcanbegiven.
